Student Council

Cheltenham Elementary’s student council is a student-based civic organization designed to help promote school spirit and leadership among students. The student council representatives are either nominated by classroom teachers or voted on by a classroom election.  Students participating in student council will maintain a high standard of personal conduct and will demonstrate leadership qualities by serving as good examples of behavior through their words and actions.  The activities and projects run by student council will serve to enhance the quality of the school and community environment.  

Student council serves to:

  • Develop positive attitudes and to practice good citizenship
  • Promote harmonious relations throughout the entire school
  • Improve school morale and general welfare
  • Plan special events and projects

Student Council Representatives are expected to:

  • Report all actives to the student body
  • Attend all student council functions
  • Make a special effort to inform students about upcoming projects and activities
  • Encourage the student body to participate in projects and activities
  • Respect all faculty
  • Display appropriate behavior
  • Report class feedback to Student Council
  • Act with academic integrity and exemplary conduct
